Juice Cleanse Tips & FAQs

Fresh juice is a live liquid supplement and is the richest whole food source of oxygen, enzymes, vitamins, and minerals. Juice cleansing gives the body a much needed rest from solid food digestion, allowing it  to cleanse and repair troubled areas. The result is more rapidly assimilated nutrients directly into the bloodstream, promoting physical energy and mental clarity! 

At Rhythm & Blue Juice Company we use only fresh, local, organic (seasonally, and when available) produce, sprouts, and wheatgrass. Our juice is never pasteurized or pressure-processed (HPP), therefore never compromising the nutritional integrity of the produce. Each bottle consists of several pounds of produce, and is packed full of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and other essential nutrients. 

Our juice is extracted using a hydraulic press. The produce is ground and then pressed between two steel plates. This process allows for less oxidation and heat than other forms of juicing and gentler, high-quality extraction of the ingredients. 

The result is a smooth, refreshing, and nutritionally optimal cold-pressed juice. Juice cleansing will let you push your restart button and begin feeling amazing within days. 

Initially when you start this juice cleanse, you may experience mild detox symptoms. Do not worry! This means that the infiltration of vitamins, nutrients, and enzymes are cleaning out all of the built up waste in your cells. 

Common detox effects may include: headache, nausea, body odor, bad breath, tongue coating, or mild skin rashes. The good news is that when you reach the other side of your juice cleanse, you may experience: a euphoric mood, crazy amounts of energy, health, vitality, weight loss, clear skin, more patience, mental clarity, etc.! 

The focus of your juice cleanse will be nutrient-dense GREEN JUICE. Green juices are both food AND medicine. They are excellent blood cleansers and rebuilders and assist in healthy elimination of waste products and toxins. They significantly alkalize the body and balance the blood sugar, thereby virtually eliminating cravings. 


Juices are meant to be sipped and enjoyed. They are not meal replacements, they are nutrients to support your fast and cleanse your body while giving your digestive system a much needed break. They can be consumed in any order preferred, but the following is a suggested guideline that has worked well for us:

  • UPON RISING: Drink water with lemon and/or black coffee (if you are a morning coffee person!)

  • MORNING: Drink juice 1

  • For added boosts throughout the day, drink the wellness shots and super lemonades.

  • MID-AFTERNOON: Drink juice 2

  • LATE AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING: Enjoy juices 3 & 4.

  • EVENING: Enjoy fresh coconut or almond milk. (or juice 5) 

  • BEFORE BED: Use a gentle herbal laxative tea if desired to facilitate toxin removal.

  • WATER: Remember during your juice cleanse to consume lots and lots of water. You can even include water with lemon or herbal teas if desired. 

  • REMEMBER: You are giving your digestive system a vacation. Honor the process by listening to your body. Rest when tired, stay active when energized. 

  • FACILITATE TOXIN REMOVAL: Use a dry skin brush, coconut oil pulling, enemas, saunas, steam baths and clay masks, etc. These are all great ways to flush toxins from your system as you cleanse.

Can I continue my everyday life?

Our cleanse programs are specially tailored to make it as easy as possible for you. You don't need to take an extra vacation or start on a weekend, or be near a toilet all day! You will be able to conduct all your normal activities (except eating!!) and will probably even discover you have MORE energy! We suggest finding a 3-Day period where you don’t have any dinner engagements or smorgasbord parties planned. Light exercise routines are encouraged, to help release toxins as you cleanse.

How much do I lose with a cleanse?

We do not advocate using a cleanse for weight loss. We believe that our fresh, living juice has the power to heal and transform your life and health and with that comes added bonuses, like weight regulation. When your body begins to come into alkaline balance, inflammation is reduced, and cravings subside. This results in bloat reduction and fat loss, and you should expect to drop a few pounds in the course of a 3 day cleanse. As you continue to incorporate our juices into your daily life, your body will naturally shed excess weight, as it utilizes all the enzymes and nutrients contained in the juice.

What if I’m very thin and do not want to lose weight?

Our cleanse programs supply an adequate amount of enzymes, nutrients and calories. If you are already extremely slim or underweight it is unlikely that you will lose any weight. You will, however, be feeding your cells with a high level of nutrition, and will likely experience high energy levels as you cleanse! 

But I love food and I’m probably going to starve, no?

Most people are surprised that they are not hungry during an R&B Cleanse. The reason is pretty simple: Our fresh cold-pressed juices and milks are made using only fresh, living fruits and vegetables, flooding your body with high-quality plant nutrients. Most of us are not used to eating/drinking fresh, nutrient-dense REAL foods, and will be adequately satiated because this is what our bodies crave in the first place!  If you have a very high metabolic rate, you may still occasionally feel hungry. In this case, you can always grab a handful of raw almonds, some raw veggies or a salad.

Can I used protein powder during a cleanse?

Protein is not only found in powders, meat, fish or dairy products, but also in fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Our body even digests these valuable plant proteins much better than animal proteins, since their amino acid structure is far less complex. You will be getting an adequate amount of nutrients (including protein)! BUT, feel free to add your favorite protein powder to the milks included in your cleanse, if you wish. YUM!

Should I drink anything else? EXCUSE ME, WHAT ABOUT COFFEE?

We recommend that you drink at least 2 liters of water a day, in addition to the (6) 16oz. bottles and wellness shots and tea. Yes, it’s a lot to drink!! This is crucial for moving toxins through your system for healthy elimination. We like to start each morning with a glass of hot water with a slice of lemon. If you’re a coffee drinker, it’s OK to have black coffee in the morning (no artificial sweeteners/dairy), but don’t overdo it.

Can I work out during the Cleanse?

Yes! A healthy level of exercise is very beneficial during the cleanse. Listen to your body! If you are used to jogging daily, there is nothing wrong with continuing to do so as long as you feel good about it. Most people will find they actually have increased energy levels/motivation to work out! 

Storage and Shelf Life

Our products are always fresh and are not preserved or pasteurized. All R&B Cleanses are made to order and are designed to be started within 24 hours of receiving your cleanse. Please plan accordingly!

When is a cleanse NOT recommended?

  • During pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • While taking antibiotics (wait until after the course to cleanse!)

If you have the following indications, talk to your doctor before deciding to cleanse:

  • Type 1 diabetes
  • Blood sugar irregularities
  • Heart, lung, liver or kidney diseases
  • Other serious diseases such as cancer, immunodeficiency

We generally do not recommend a cleanse to young people under the age of 13.
